AI summary
Lets you redesign your appearance within your species' limits, including unrealistic hair, eye or skin colouring, and with every breath brings you closer to the greatest expression of your genetic potential. Left alone, that means reaching your species' upper limit for physical, spiritual and mental ability; pushed further, it means gaining abilities beyond that limit entirely. The simplest such abilities remove your need to eat, drink or sleep, and then your need to breathe — and while you may teach the tenets to others, they will never rise as high as you unless you perform a ritual to grant them the Essence's abilities directly.

Attempting to push beyond the bare minimum will let you gain abilities in excess of the limits of your species.
The simplest ability will allow you to remove the need to eat, drink or sleep at all. The next simplest can remove your need to breathe.
